MBBS From Velammal Medical College Hospital and Research Institute Facilities Provided

The college has modern academic facilities including well lit, spacious airconditioned class rooms, modern seating system and state of the art audiovisual aids. To enhance the learning process, classrooms have projection software to visualize and understand the complex processes in medicine. College boasts of  auditoriums (seating capacity of 200-2000) equipped with modern audiovisual aids to conduct seminars , conferences , CMEs and workshops. Laboratories are well equipped for teaching practical aspects of subjects. Departments have museums pertaining to respective subjects which are curated and catalogued so that students can utilize them for self-directed learning. The college has its own teaching hospital with adequate infrastructure, clinical material and staff. Students are also exposed to primary and secondary healthcare through outreach facilities. The examination hall is very spacious, adequately equipped and secured for conducting University examinations. It has inbuilt secretarial services.

• Library

The Central Library and information service is located in an independent block which is one of the repositories of medical knowledge and forms an integral part of the institution. The library is an amalgamation of traditional collection of books and digital library in the form of CDs, DVDs and other digital formats. With dedicated Library staff, the library is serving the medical user community with the right medical information at right time.  Library recognized the importance of textbooks and reference materials in higher education since its inception and is trying to extend the best to its users. Annual budget caters to updation of latest edition of books and journals an integrated library

• Hostel

Like everything else, the Residential Accommodation at  Medical College & Research Institute is distinctive. The gender-segregated ‘homes away from home’ are Wi-Fi enabled and offer comfortable accommodation with separate Reading Rooms and TV Viewing Rooms. There are 500 air-conditioned and well-furnished rooms, that come with TV, refrigerator and attached bathrooms with 24-hour hot water facility. Generators ensure uninterrupted power. Separate wings have been created for Interns and Nurses, while Teaching and Non-teaching staff have their own Residential Quarters within the campus.

• Green Campus

VMCH & RI is a sustainable green campus. It is a plastic free zone and there are strict rules framed and executed to enable the same. Everyone part of VMCH & RI is educated on conserving resources and contributing to society sensibly. All possible elements are recycled on the campus.

• Gym

It is very important to take care of one’s health and at VMCH & RI we believe that preventionis better that cure, that’s the reason VMCH & RI have established a well equipped unisex gym with full-time trainers. At any given point of time around 150 guests can use the facility.

• Transportation

VMCH & RI has engaged all efforts to grantee relaxed commuting for students. VMCH & RI has estabilished a transport system that is comfortable and easily accessible. The university buses to transport all students from and to all locations in and around Madurai. This helps day scholars and local residents reach college on time with comfort. The roads inside the campus are blacktopped and well laid with pedestrian walk facilities for easy commuting. Day scholar can park their vehicles after registering their vechicle number with the concerned parking in charge.

• Bank And ATMs

Indian Overseas bank is located near the main entrance. There are three ATMs within the campus near the 10B bank, inside the Main OPD foyer, and near the Pharmacy on the ground floor of the hospital.

• Cafeteria

The cafeteria is available within the hospital premises, near the library building near the east gate of the hospital and Velammal Multi-cusine restaurant at the exit gate of the hospital. Any suggestions or complaints regarding food or timing can be brought to the notice of the cafeteria manager and the needful is done immediately.

• Auditorium

A technically sound state of art, fully air conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of 2500 audience with food courts and independent ample parking space is available for conducting various seminars and conferences.

• Sports

Students don’t just excel in the classrooms but in the sports field too. The outstanding facilities for indoor and outdoor games include tennis, badminton, basketball and volleyball courts and grounds for field events.
