Course Structure of BDS from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences 

The course shall have a duration of four years with an additional one-year compulsory rotating internship. The students shall be awarded a stipend as decided by the college during the period of internship. The students will be subjected to engage in full-time study of the curriculum recognized by the Dental Council of India during the BDS program. The course curriculum is divided into clinical, medical and dental subjects.

The students are introduced to the clinics in the initial stage, to familiarize themselves with clinical set-up and working. The students are also required to attend dental hospitals, community camps, satellite clinics, etc. to gain vivid subject knowledge, hence producing a competent graduate in the field of diagnosis of oral diseases, general dental treatment, specialized treatments and prevention. The students are also equipped with patient management skills with special reference to pediatric, geriatric and medically compromised patients.

The institution also gives special emphasis to dental jurisprudence, legal and ethical obligations of dental practitioners and the constitution and functions of the Dental Council of India. At the end of the BDS program, the institute ensures that the graduates are competent in general skills, practice management, implementation & monitor of infection control and environmental safety programs, patient care and treatment planning.

Admission Procedure for BDS from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences  

BDS from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences is made based on the candidate’s performance in NEET and according to the NEET counseling procedure as laid down by the government. The institution has an intake of 100 students for an academic year. The minimum marks prescribed are generally by the selection board for the admission of students and a merit list is prepared based on the same scores. The candidates are required to obtain minimum qualifying percentile marks in NEET to qualify for further admission process.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for admission: BDS from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences 

An aspiring candidate must register themselves for NEET counselling For Deemed Universities (Approved by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and GOI)  by visiting the official portal of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

The process is detailed as below:

Step 1– In order to participate in the counselling process, the candidate must successfully log on to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) counselling portal. 

Step 2 – The candidate must lock-in their preferred institutes by the available list of college, college code, place, courses, and the district name.

Step 3 – Once the locking process is successfully completed, the authority will start seat allotment. And after the allotment process, the final allotment results will be published online. Kindly note that once the allotted time for MCC counselling has passed, the selections that have been made will be locked automatically.

Documents Required for admission to BDS from Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences 

The eligible candidates based on the NEET counseling will be asked to report to complete the admission formalities with the documents. The documents include:

  1. NEET Scorecard or Rank Letter
  2. Class 10 certificate and mark sheet (for date of birth)

  3. Foreign University students – equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities, Delhi
  4. Candidate’s parents resident certificate issued by the Embassy/ affidavit on Rs.100/‐e‐stamp paper to that effect.
  5. A notarized affidavit from the sponsor stating that they would cover the candidate’s whole course fee.
  6. Candidate’s passport / VISA / Resident VISA
  7. Citizenship of the candidate.
  8. Income Tax Documents required as per the Income Tax Act 1961.
  9. Candidate’s study certificate for having studied outside India where applicable for the qualifying examination.

The required documents must be self-attested while submitted along the with the hard copy of the application.
